Nouvel album, le 73e album studio ? Willie rend hommage à l'auteur, compositeur, producteur de Nashville : HARLAN HOWARD ( 1927-2002 ).

Même si Howard a sorti "que" 6 albums, il a écrit des tas de hits pour d'autres. C'est une grande partie de l'histoire de Nashville que Willie revisite sur ce coup là :

Le très vieux texan revisite pour la première fois je crois, les musiques des montagnes Appalaches du Tennessee, du Kentucky : le BLUEGRASS



Certains medias disent que c'est son 151e album     Avec pas mal de reprises de ses chansons réorchestrées dans ce style acoustique particulier, avec des pointures du genre comme musicien :

Qui tiendra la plus longtemps ? Hugues Aufray ou Willie ?

Hugues a 3 ans d'avance, c'est énorme.  Il y a 1 an, je l'ai croisé sur une aire d'autoroute en Vendée, il était attablé pour un café. Je vérifie et je vois qu'il a en effet 2 dates de concert à peu près là où je vais.   Quand lui et les 2 personnes qui l'accompagnent se sont levés, il m'a regardé et j'ai fait un petit sourire et un bonjour pour lui signifier que je l'avais evidemment reconnu.

Peu de chances que je croise le bus de Willie en Vendée. Néanmoins il était devant le Grand Rex après son concert en mai 2008.






A ce Grand Rex 2008, Francis Cabrel et ... Hugues Aufray étaient présent pour voir le concert. La boucle est bouclée.  

Pendant que Kate n'est pas là au Rock and Roll Hall of Fame mais ressort TOUT, Willie était là, et sort une simple compilation pas chere comme il y en a sorti une centaine d'autres. Mais couvrant les 60 ans de carrière en 22 chansons .

Sa voix a souffert, il n'a plus beaucoup de souffle, et il fait moins de choses à la guitare ( ce qui est déjà plus que des milliers de vedettes pop de ce monde ). A 90 ans, on lui pardonne tout.
