Four years after publishing « Le désespoir des singes » (The monkeys’ desperation; ed. Robert Lafont), an autobiographical tale sold at more than 500,000 copies, popular French singer Françoise Hardy, who represented Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, will hit back the French libraries with her very first novel entitled “L’amour fou” (Mad love; ed. Albin Michel) this summer.
« L’amour fou » will be a ‘fiction-confession’ novel in which readers will discover, as the title states, the tumultuous romance of a passionate and self-destructing couple. In « Le désespoir des singes », back in 2008, Françoise Hardy also wrote about her own love stories with famous photographer Jean-Marie Périer, and of course popular French singer Jacques Dutronc with whom she is the proud parent of the very successful musician and singer Thomas Dutronc. But this autobiographical tale was also an opportunity for her to review her artistic choices as the muse of the 1960’s, her encounters and the sudden success she unexpectedly had to deal with.
Françoise Hardy, who is currently facing a lot of criticism following her statements regarding the newly elected French President François Hollande – she stated she is not be able to pay taxes anymore and will probably have to sell her house and even leave France because of the taxation policy to be implemented by the new French government – is also due to release a new album later this year.
