| I couldn't belieive my ears this morning when Brian Matthew played Francoise singing "Je ne sais pas ce que je veux" . This song has never been released in the UK and was taken from the compilation cd "C'est chic-French singers of the`1960s,released in 2010 on Ace International. It can be heard for the next week on the BBC iPlayer but probably only in the UK. The BBC must be getting adventurous as it usually plays her big hit here "All over the world" or the lesser ones "Tous les garcons"or "Et meme". It has been heard to play "If I loved you" or even "J'entends siffler le train" by Richard Anthony as well as the formerly banned "Je t'aime, moi non plus" by Gainsbourg and Birkin(not Bardot). A few years ago there was a late night radio series about Johnny Hallyday with a brief contribution from Francoise. Although there have been programmes about Brel and Gainsbourg I doubt that there will ever be one about Francoise. | |

Thanks a lot ! Very interesting and cheering news...
Talking about the contingency of a programme dedicated to her, I hope that someday nethertheless there will be one: it"s allways allowed to dream ?????
LONG LIVE FRANCOISE !

| Matthew, It would be a lovely dream but an impossible dream I fear. Sometimes Francoise is mentioned in the press here when they write about French pop music and these mentions are always positive unlike those for poor Johnny who unfortunately, and unjustly I think,is considered a joke here. He and Sylvie sang for the Queen but Francoise has not had this honour. Vive Francoise la reine de la chanson francaise ! | |

| Another Francoise record was played this morning- La maison ou j'ai grandi- described as the French version of "Tar and cement". Brian Matthew described Francoise as " the shy Parisienne...who created a hugely successful career for herself spanning over 3 decades as a singer, model and movie actress". It is a lovely day,the sun is shining, birds singing and breakfast with Francoise! Perfect! "La maison ou j'ai grandi" was released in the UK in 1966 on a single VRS 7011 and LP VRL 3028 but never on an EP. The broadcast will be available for the next week at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/radio and Francoise can be heard at 0:44 minutes.

| Yet another Francoise song on BBC Radio 2's "Sound of the 60s" this morning. This time it was the turn of " Le temps de l'amour" http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01mjzvt/Sounds_of_the_60s_08_09_2012/ at 49minutes 26 seconds (and followed at 58minutes 39 seconds by Louise Cordet's "I'm just a baby"). Congratulations to Paul McCartney on becoming an Officer of the Legion of Honour. Vive l'Entente Cordiale!! | |
